A great Idea or two! Left over Halloween candy?

Have to much Halloween candy laying around, rather it be from your kids trick or treating or not having enough visitors come a knocking, well lets see what Ideas Pinterest, google and my own mind can come up with.
First thought for me was RiceCrispy Maddness! So I have no fun photos of this since this is only me brain storming and for our house hold Malaki may have scored on his level with bringing home candy but with all 3 of us sharing the candy and also with the amounts being low on doubles there is not alot to work with, all I have to do is keep my 3 year old from wanting candy every moment of the day! I think its time to put it up... out of sight out of mind. Ok But back to this idea. I love rice crispy treats that have fun candy in them! You can add almost any candy to it Heck I passed a photo on pinterest of  candy corn one ( if you like candy corn). I have skittles in rice crispys and strangely loved the extra chewy in there. So my left over halloween candy Idea is all of it! ok ok maybe not all of it but like chop up the good stuff like twix bars, reeses cups, milky ways, M&Ms of every kind and add them in for a chocolate lovers fondest dream. Or the other way add in those Nerds, Skittles, Chopped up laffy taffy or star burst  for a chewy yet crunchy Yum!
So for those of you now drooling over the Idea of Rice crispys invaded by candy here is a simple rice treat recipe.
  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 16 ounces Miniature Marshmallows, Divided
  • 1 teaspoon Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal

  1. Line a 9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Once melted, add in all but 1 cup of the marshmallows. Reduce heat to low and continue stirring until completely melted.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla. Add the cereal and the remaining 1 cup of marshmallows. Add in your candy may it be one kind or many. This may be when you will want to call in your Love to stir since it takes some power stirring ( unless  you are the stronger of the two)
  4. Pour into the prepared baking dish. Press GENTLY with your fingertips just until completely spread out (the harder you pack them in, the harder they are to eat). Too sticky ? butter on finger tips!
  5. Allow to set, about 1 hour. Cut and enjoy!

Another great Idea Is popcorn! You know that sweet and salty combination?  Yeah that! Simple as adding in your favorite Chocolate treat over fresh popped Popcorn ( my personal favorite is milk duds) Or the other idea is making a sweet candy popcorn. You could use my Popcorn ball recipe found on my " First scary movie of the season" post Listing Bloody popcorn as it is cooling and you are mixing it in add in your candy! Or any of these other Pop corn Ideas from Pinterest.

Triple Peanut Butter Monster Cookie Bars
  • 8 tablespoons of salted butter heated til melted (  but not hot! )
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ cups all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup chocolate chunks ( but for this recipe add in candy) ( Also I always add more chocolate chips lol)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Microwave the butter for about 40 seconds to just barely melt it. It shouldn't be hot - but it should be almost entirely in liquid form.
  2. Using a stand mixer or electric beaters, beat the butter with the sugars until creamy. Add the vanilla and the egg; beat on low speed until just incorporated - 10-15 seconds or so do not over beat
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until crumbles form. Use your hands to press the crumbles together into a dough. It should form one large ball that is easy to handle right at the stage between "wet" dough and "dry" dough . Add the chocolate chips (or candy)  and incorporate with your hands.
  4. Roll the dough into balls  and place on a cookie sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes until the cookies look puffy and dry and just barely golden. Take them out even if they look like they're not done yet . They'll be pale and puffy. I look under the cookie to see in it looks like its browned. If so they are done!
  5. Let them cool on the pan for a good 30 minutes or so, they will be easier to handle. They will sink down and turn into these dense, buttery, soft cookies that are just so yummy. These should stay soft for many days if kept in an airtight container ( that is if your family does not Inhale them like they do in my house)
Most of these are your basic Ideas that are easy and fun but here are a few that are not as common!'
