Holidays.

Holidays. I adore them and I just adore doing everything that I can to celebrate even if it means standing in the kitchen for hours cooking up something. I don't know why I love them all so much I Lovingly blame my mom for it. When I was a kid growing up she made sure each holiday was special. Halloween was always fun full of fun unique costumes and as a teen the fun did not stop she made sure me and my friends had fun activities to do Halloween night. One Halloween she and my grandma threw one of the Best dances ever out in the huge shed my uncle had built. We had treats and food, amazing decorations and over 60 highschoolers showed up. It will always be a memory I will hold dear. Another year we held a carnival like party where we played games. It was not just Halloween either, it was Christmas with parties and fancy dinners, a huge Santa collection and elegant Christmas trees. We even celebrated St. Patricks' day with a nice meal on fancy china. I loved how my Mom made every holiday really special with all the fun things she did. As an adult looking back at how fun holidays were I guess I want to make mine just as fun so that when Malaki is older he can remember all the fun too.  I guess one of the biggest reasons that holidays are so important to me is when I was younger I remember holidays were the time of peace and happiness in my home. Yes I had a pretty happy Family life growing up, happier than some, not as happy as others, but happy. I had my own ghosts that haunted me growing up. I remember the Beautiful decoration and smiles on every ones faces. Christmas was always my favorite. It was a time where you could burst out in song and no one looked at you odd, all so magical. Halloween has its very own magic, you could dress however you wanted, Fairy, Princess, any thing I wishes. I often was a gypsy. Also it was a time every one smiled and gave you candy haha, as long as they did not jump out and scare me I loved it! My mom made every holiday so magical.
So I may seem a tad bit crazy about holidays but I love being crazy about it. I can not wait to start my own and carry on other traditions.
So I love learning who, what and where about stuff. So my love of research and writing Is always fun to tinker with when it comes to my wonderings! So here we go a small History on Halloween.
Sitting on the fence between fall and winter, plenty and paucity, life and death, Halloween is a time of celebration and also for those that believe it, superstition. It is said to have started out with the ancient Celtic's  festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off roaming ghosts. A pope later took some of same traditions and included them in his day of "All Saints Day" A day to honor Saints. The night before was known as  "All Hallows’ Eve"  and later shortened to "Halloween".  It was much later that it became more Kid friendly and Trick or treating became I thing. In some various stories of history behind Halloween though it is some that trick or treating came from the same sort of Tradition that the Celtics had with dressing up to scare off ghosts and Demons. Children would go to do to door and the house owners would give them a treat to thank them for their good deed. Who really knows where every thing came from defiantly not me all I know is from the several stories I heard as I grew up and also from the many goggle pages I read tonight. Hope you enjoyed the interesting facts as much as I do.
